Minutes of the January community meeting were approved.

Treasurer=s Report is attached.  Lynn Fensterer reported that the Honorary Mayor election netted $2319.00 for the treasury.  Balance on hand is $8926.45.

February 27 town hall meeting will have Wayne Daltry as speaker and needs publicity.  Posters were distributed.  The installation of the new honorary mayor is planned.  Planner Vince Catero will give a brief outline of the Alva Plan=s next step in its approval process.   John Payne will make and post signs to direct people to the new location, the Alva Community Center.

John Payne has submitted the application to the Oswald Trippe Insurance Agency but has not yet received a response or approval.

Letter has been sent from president Rob Andrys to the Department of Transportation relating Alva, Inc. concerns and recommendations regarding the reconstruction of state highway 80.

Committee Reports: Park and Trails committee.  Susan Brookman is working on the scenic highway designation for County Road 78. A number of individuals are also pursuing the 20-20, Land Trust programs.  Sarah Gillim stated that it is important to get the public involved in the Land Trust program.

A committee member is needed for the Trails Committee.  Especially helpful are persons committed to bike trails and paths.  It is hoped that trails will connect the parks in our area.

Planning Committee.  A search is being conducted for leadership and members for the Planning Committee.  A number of names were mentioned and the board appeals to all interested to give their names and participate.

Membership Committee.  Discussion centered around increasing membership and participation in Alva, Inc.  Possible activities include a spring community dance, canoe races.

A major challenge is to provide landscaping for the median as Highway 80 is reconstructed.  The Alva Garden Club will be contacted (Nina Rigby, pres., Jensene Payne, vice pres.) to enlist their involvement and help.  Also to be contacted for support: Yoder Nurseries.

Historic Committee continues to work on collection of community photographs.  Historic photos displayed at the Alva Museum have been copied on to archival paper and copies have also been placed in the Ft. Myers Historical Society Museum.

A Wayside Park design committee is needed.

March community meeting plans include an update on the scenic highway design (County 78) and the possible placement of new power lines in the area.

Lynn Fensterer reminded the board that a nominating committee for officers is urgently needed as terms for present officers expire in May.

Submitted by John Payne, secretary.
